While Chirripó Oasis is home to a rich variety of mid-elevation bird species, the true star of the show is the White-crested Coquette—a rare and magnificent hummingbird. First spotted in our garden in 2020, this dazzling visitor has returned to the same exact spot every year since.

Typically seen from October to April, its peak activity occurs in December and January, delighting birdwatchers and photographers alike. Though its presence varies from season to season, witnessing this majestic creature up close is always a magical experience.

Speckled Tanager: A Colorful Delight

Among the many vibrant species of tanagers found at Chirripó Oasis, the Speckled Tanager stands out with its striking pattern and brilliant colors. One of the most heartwarming sights is watching a mother feed her young—an intimate moment that reveals the tender side of this beautiful bird.

Hummingbird Photography Deck

Come experience the magic of our Birding Deck, thoughtfully designed for comfort, beauty, and unbeatable birdwatching. These peaceful platforms offer a stunning view of our vibrant hummingbird garden, framed by the lush mountains and the sound of the nearby river. On the opposite side of the deck, you willl find an eye-level view of our fruit feeder—perfect for capturing incredible bird photos.

Reservations are required. Please contact us in advance to schedule your visit. Access to the property requires a 4x4 vehicle. If you do not have one, don’t worry—we offer a safe parking area in the lower part and will gladly provide transport up the hill to the property.
